Solid policy framework. Direct financial upside.
Electrification plays a key role in reducing CO2-emissions. In the EU, road transport accounts for roughly 25% of total emissions, making it one of the most impactful sectors to decarbonize.
To accelerate the shift to renewable energy in transport, a system was introduced that rewards the delivery of clean energy to vehicles. This system is based on tradable credits called renewable energy units ("HBEs"). Companies that can demonstrate the use of renewable energy, such as electricity, for charging vehicles are eligible to generate HBE credits. These credits can then be sold to fuel suppliers, who are legally required to meet annual renewable energy targets. They can do so by blending in biofuels or by purchasing HBEs on the open market.
Until now, participation has been largely limited to major players with the capacity to manage the complex administrative process of claiming HBE credits. For most other organizations, the effort outweighed the return.
Voltico changes that. With a fully automated, proprietary software solution (unique in the Netherlands) we make participation simple and financially attractive. No manual administration, no disruption of existing operations. We make it possible for more organizations to benefit structurally from their investments in electrification.
